What skills, talents and education is needed to become an architect?
Visual literacy, creativity, attention to details, a lot of discipline… Education: To officially be certified as an architect, you need to go to at least 5 years of school and pass a national exam. However, you can go to school for four years and design buildings that are smaller or work with certified architects to create buildings. As far as where to go to school, it depends on whether you want to study more technical architecture or more innovative architecture. I would personally go for a more innovative kind of architecture. A good indication of a GREAT architecture program is that they require portfolios for admission. I am not studying architecture myself but attend a small design school with a very strong architecture program and know architecture professors and am friends with many architecture students.
