What Skills Are Involved in the Process of Creating Web Pages?
Several academic skills are required to design, create, and upload a typical web page. The obvious skills include the following: producing coherent well-written textual information conforming to California’s Standards for the 6th grade. But perhaps more importantly, students are learning valuable “life skills” too, such as meeting a deadline, working collaboratively on projects, problem solving on technical issues as a team, developing a sense of comradery as students work toward a common goal, “exercising” the character traits of persistence and determination in the face of sometimes “unsurmountable” technical difficulties. In addition, students gain a deeper geographical awareness of the world around them, and will hopefully develop empathy for those children so far less fortunate than they are.
