What Size Vases Should I Use For My Wedding Table Centrepieces?

I plan on using square silver vases with silk flowers on my tables. The tables are oblong and I wanted to know if 6″x6″ vases would be appropriate given the fact that there will be dinner plates, salad plates and bread plates together with three votives on each side of the centerpieces. I was considering 7″x7″ but I think they may be overpowering with all that is on the tables.
