What size horses can the Renault Master conversion carry?
We recommend any horse up to 16.2 hands, however the weight restrictions on a fully laden box carrying two 16.2 hand horses may come into play. The free working weight left once the conversion has been completed is approx. 1250 kilos. Allowing an average weight of 500 kilos per horse, this leaves 250 kilos remaining for riders and their equipment. Is the floor strong enough? Yes: The original steel floor of the Renault Master is covered with an additional layer of 12mm marine ply and secured to the floor. The horse compartment is then coated in a 2mm layer of G.R.P. (Glass Reinforced Plastic) which extends 150mm up the side walls. This adds more strength and provides a water membrane to the floor. Finally 12mm rubber matting is fitted and two drain holes cut through the floor to allow swilling out. Is the driver/passenger bulk head reinforced?
