What size awnings are available?
Most manufacturers offer custom-sized awnings. Simply measure the area you want to cover and add an additional 6 to 12 inches wider and 12 inches higher. Will the motorized awning work if the power goes out? For a small price, a back-up manual crank can be included to open and close your awning in case of a power outage. Can you add a motor to a crank awning that is already installed? Yes, if you decide you would rather have the ease of a motorized awning you can always add a motor later on but it will end up costing more than a motorized awning would have cost originally. Can I keep my awning out in the rain? Yes, an awning will block the rain but if there is heavy wind, you should retract the awning. What about warranties? Most awning manufacturers offer a 5-year warranty but usually awnings last between 8-12 years. Fabric that fades can easily be replaced.
