What sites are subject to routine inspection under the CWC?
Sites that are declared because of their activities with Schedule 1, 2, and 3 chemicals as well as other chemical production facilities are subject to routine inspection. In general, these inspections are conducted in a manner that causes the least possible inconvenience to the inspected state and disturbance to the host facility. Unless otherwise agreed, the Technical Secretariat negotiates a facility agreement for Schedule 1 and 2 sites with the treaty party to delineate the specific areas within these sites where the inspection team has access. Model facility agreements were approved by the Conference of States Parties in November 1998. The inspection team focuses on verifying the accuracy of data declarations.
