What single factor causes the four seasons of the Earth?
As the Earth orbits the sun, the tilt in the Earth’s axis makes the sun appear to move Northwards and Southwards as the Earth spins each day. Over the year the path of the sun in the sky moves between the tropic of Cancer and Capricorn. When it is above the tropic of cancer it is summer in the northern hemisphere and winter in the southern hemisphere.
