What side effects are possible with Adacel?
The side effects listed below are not experienced by everyone who takes this medication. If you are concerned about side effects, discuss the risks and benefits of this medication with your doctor. Your health professional may be able to help you deal with some of the effects. The following side effects may go away as your body becomes used to the medication; check with your doctor if they continue or become bothersome. More common: • fever of 100.4°F to 102.2°F (38°C to 39°C) • lump at place of injection • redness, swelling, tenderness, or pain at place of injection Less common: • fever of 102.2°F to 104°F (39°C to 40°C) Rare: • fever of 104°F to 105°F (40°C to 40.5°C) • skin rash • swollen glands on side of neck (following injection into arm) Get emergency help immediately if any of the following side effects occur: Less common: • collapse • crying for three or more hours Rare: • confusion • convulsions (seizures) • difficulty breathing or swallowing • fever of 105°F (40.5°C) or more
