Street Sweeper Social Club, the new band unifying Tom Morello and Boots Riley, took NYC by storm this week playing two surprise, impromptu shows at small clubs. Tuesday night, SSSC took the stage before a packed house at The Roots sold out jam session at Highline Ballroom and Wednesday SSSC rocked Kenny’s Castaways in the West Village. Regarding the Highline Ballroom performance, Rolling Stone.com stated that SSSC are “…its own foot-stomping, teeth gnashing beast.” Their debut self-titled album of self-described “revolutionary party jams” is out June 16th through Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group. The 11-song set was produced by Tom Morello and features Boots Riley on vocals, Morello on guitar and bass, and Stanton Moore (Galactic) on drums. SSSC’s debut tour with Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction kicks off tonight in West Palm Beach, FL. SSSC is set to make their national TV debut Weds, June 17th on Late Night w/Jimmy Fallon.

Tom Morello’ s new band, Street Sweeper Social Club, made their TV debut last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and performed the Rage Against The Machine-esque “100 Little Curses.” And an extremely righteous racket they unleashed as rapper Boots Riley did indeed rage against the rich and their caviar-gobbling, Ferrari-driving, white-stuff-snorting ways. The enthusiastic delivery of the message, combined with Morello’ s shredding and Riley’s fabulous sculpted sideburns, totally won me over. The enthusiastic delivery of the message, combined with Morello’s shredding and Riley’s fabulous sculpted sideburns, totally won me over. One criticism? I’m not counting 100 curses in the song, Tom. There’s 30 at most, and that’s being generous. Come on, dude, this is exactly the kind of so-called “liberal lie” Bill O’Reilly likes to nail people on. Anyway, check out the clip below and tell us what you think. Do you agree with the band’s anti-rich sentiments? And, if you are super rich, get your butler to drop us a line. Supergroups are always dodgy territory, and are rarely able to become more than the sum of their parts. Unfortuna
