Honestly there are like 1000’s of shows so its impossible to recommend any as such. What I would do is to go to the half price hut at the East End of princes Street where you will get bargains to see random shows. Pick up a Fringe Show guide when you are here and flick through it. It might seem a bit daunting but it is arranged into how types- comedy, theatre, musicals etc. You could also take a walk down the Royal mile where hundreds of performers give free shows and hand out leaflets for their shows, they are always desperate for people to come, and you can learn a bit about their shows. I tend to got and see a mixture of comedy and theatre, and I usually see about 20 shows each year. Within these 20 there are always a few really bad shows, but that is half the fun, its like pick and mix- you never know what you will get! Comedy wise, if you don’t mind forking out slightly more for a ticket, you may be best seeing someone who has one of the larger adverts in the Fringe brochure, that
