What should the engraving, bluing and hardening cost?
A. Standard engraving in a A-1 Special pattern should cost $1,800 to $2,500 by a competent engraver for a standard A-1 style pattern. A bigger name engraver, or an extensive engraving pattern with many gold inlays, chiseling, etc. the sky is the limit. Bluing, because the barrels are already polished and ready should be approximately $100 per barrel. Case hardening should be approximately $400. In the white hardening for French graying, somewhere around $100.
