What should teachers be doing in order to prepare students for the Writing Assessments at grades 4, 7, and 10?
Teachers should be teaching writing a variety of writing tasks as described in the English Language Arts Standard Course of Study, concentrating on the features that comprise good writing: focus, organization, support and elaboration, style, and conventions. Teachers of other disciplines should develop meaningful writing strategies that include the features of good writing in the various content areas.
