What should my 5 month and 3weeks old border collie puppy weigh?
Depends on the dog’s size and structure and how quickly he is maturing. Some dogs reach adult size by six months and some will take years. This is dependant on genetics and will affect how heavy a dog is at any given age. You should post a picture if you’re wondering if it is too heavy/thin. You might also just ask your vet since he should know your dog and have an idea. You can also ask the breeder how big his/her lines generally are at this age. *** UPDATE: If he’s just tall/big for his age, he’s fine. Some dogs get bigger than others and some lines mature faster than others (meaning they are their adult size/weight/structure at a younger age than some others). You can take him to two feedings a day now if you want to. He should stay on puppy food or an all life stages food until he’s at least a year old unless your vet gives you a good reason to switch him over to adult food now.
