What should I watch for while I am on antiplatelet medicine?
Because your medicines are keeping your blood from forming clots, you have an increased risk of bleeding. Be extra careful with cuts, scrapes, bloody noses, or bruises. Call your doctor right away if you show any of the following signs of bleeding: • bruises that don’t go away in 10-14 days or which spread quickly, • bloody nose, cut, or scrape that won’t go away, • blood in your urine, • black, tarry stools or fresh blood in your stools, • coughing up blood, and/or • vomit that looks like it contains coffee grounds, or fresh blood when vomiting.
