Personal or professional? You should put everything in your personal portfolio. All of your finished pieces and all of the documentation, brainstorming, sketches, pre-/post-production materials if you do movies, drafts, etc that go with each piece. Show not only the finished product but also your method. Show your style, what you’re capable of, how you think, how you approach your work. Even if you’re unhappy with how something turned out, put it in there, and consider why you don’t like it and figure out what you need to do to fix it. If you can’t answer both of those questions, put them away for a while and come back to it later. For your own purposes, you should keep a record of your development as an artist; in order to progress you must understand where you come from. If you need to submit a portfolio for something (a job, as part of a university application), you’ll probably be asked to limit the size to a maximum of around 10 pieces or 10 minutes of video–the reviewing committe
