What should I look for when buying a new desktop computer?
this is very simple since you provided your price range, but it also depends on your means for a computer (internet, multitasking, gaming. etc) i would recommend getting a computer with a core 2 duo or better processor, 2gb of ram or more and maybe get a 9600gt or a gt 240 or maybe get a HD 4670 graphics card, and maybe get a 320 GB hard drive or more if you prefer.
I have owned 3 computers in my lifetime. The first I spent about $1,500 at a place called PC club. You got whatever custom made computer you decided to have them assemble. They are no longer in business. This computer lasted a good 5 years, and only stopped working due to a virus. I sold it cheap and felt good about my purchase. The second one I did research on ever single part, and bought the parts mostly from NewEgg, and other places on the Internet. Then, I had someone assemble it. This computer lasted from 2003 till 2008, right about the time Circuit City went under. I overspent on this comp, but I could afford it in 2003, spending about $3,000. Around August of 2008 I bought an HP comp from Circuit City for about $900. Worst comp by far out of the 3. Hard drive failed 1 month after the warranty expired. Got it fixed, failed again. Figure out it was the Power Supply not being able to handle the system specs, causing the HD to go bad. In my opinion, do searches for every part and bu
