What should I include in the Professional Development Plan (PDP) section of the Self-Assessment form?
• Take time to reflect before completing this section. It is important to devote an appropriate amount of time to this section as it is a depiction to your manager of your wants and needs for your career progression. • Remember this section is forward thinking – it is your opportunity to comment about what you need/want for your future professional development. Capture historical information (e.g., training you participated in last year) in the significant accomplishment section. • Identify strengths that you will leverage in the new performance period. Example: Use my strong teamwork skills to ensure XYZ project stays on target and learn more about how to facilitate team meetings. • Select a minimum of two areas of focus that you intend to strengthen during the next review cycle. Consider skills/knowledge you need to gain to help you accomplish your goals. If you need to learn something new to achieve a goal, capture it in the PDP. • Focus more on what you need to learn than on “how”
