What should I expect for my first gyno (“girl doctor”) visit?
I was 16 the first time I visited this type of doctor and also didn’t know what to expect. The vaginal examination can be uncomfortable, but most doctors work very quickly. The doctor will examine your breasts for any sort of lumps, and they might also press down on the base of your stomach to feel for any cysts on your ovaries. I’d say you should take someone you feel safe and comfortable with, perhaps a parent or even a friend. It seems really scary at first, but having good health is very important! Good luck!
