First – a SPLINT – make one yourself, with a small piece of wood or even a nail file, and some Ace bandage! Then put a glove on. You MUST protect the finger from RE-INJURY. I know the importance of hand protection – I’m a free-lance jazz pianist/vocalist and I mildly injured 2 of my fingers this past Sunday (luckily, they are healing fine – black & blue only) when I started closing my car door while my hand was not inside the car – almost jammed them. Really dumb – I’ve never done that before, but I was in an unusual hurry in a parking lot where there was a bum starting to walk toward my car (not a bad neighborhood, but he was a little creepy looking) and THAT’S when things can happen. Anyway – I had Ace bandage on them for a few days, and tried to limit my typing as well. Try and REDUCE your HAND ACTIVITY for at least 3 days!!! Hope you get better soon. But get that SPLINT on it!!
