Certain sonography tests require fasting. If you are having an abdominal or abdominal aorta ultrasound performed, you should make sure not to eat 12 hours prior to the study. If you are having a pelvis or prostate ultrasound performed, you should drink three, 12 ounce glasses of water 1 and 1/2 hours prior to the exam.
