I’ve always used a salt water solution – 6 piercings including 3 very stubborn positioned ones. Make up with Sea Salt for Bathing (chemist, very cheap for big box), or table salt if necessasary. Use a teaspoon in a half mug of just-from-the-kettle boiling water (one American Cup measure). Dont use too much salt. Sorry but please don’t add cold water as that isn’t sterile and defeats the object. Wait untill it cools slightly before dabbing on with a cotton ball. It’s even better if you can soak your ear in the cup for a minute. Do this twice a day, morning and night. Do it after you shower to remove soap residue. Avoid twiddling the piercing for a few weeks as it can tear the new skin, despite what some gun-piercers say. Soak off then ease away crusties with a cotton bud soaked in your mug of salt water. Really try not to touch it as hands have more germs than most things! Good Luck and Bravo on the self-piercing!!
