What should I bring to an AutoX event?
Besides bringing yourself and your car, there are a few other things you might find convenient to bring with you to an event. Any AutoXer can assemble him or herself a “pit box” to ease the task of gathering the items the night before an event. Some of the basic items to pack are suggested below: -Your helmet -Tire pressure gauge -A hat -A pair of gloves -Sunscreen -One roll of shop towel (regular paper towel is too thin) -One small bottle of waterless hand cleaner -One large WHITE beach towel (covers that black leather/vinyl driver seat on smoking hot sunny days. You can, and will, thank me on this one) -One pack (12) of garbage bags (get the big size, these are great since if it rains, you can also put other things in them to kept them dry. You can even tear a few holes in them and wear them as rain jacket if it gets real ugly at PM.) One of the most important things in autocross is to DRESS FOR THE WEATHER. Remember, not only will you be driving, but you will be working out on course. If there is a chance of showers, bring a rain jacket. If it’s supposed to be bitterly cold, bring gloves. If it’s going to be brutally hot, clothes that wont overheat you are important. It is much better to bring a few extra clothes and not need them than to either shiver or sweat all day.
