While prosecutors in San Francisco decide how to charge Craig Carlos-Valentino, 51, for threatening to blow up his SUV in the middle of the Bay Bridge, few seem to be sympathetic to him. Carlos-Valentino was the father of eight children and worked as a security guard. He said he had a bomb and threatened to blow up his SUV and commit suicide in the middle of the western span of the Bay Bridge. KGO radio talk show host Gil Gross took up the story during the 2 p.m. hour of his show on Thursday, hours after the incident that brought traffic to a halt on the bridge for two hours. Gross said he would ordinarily be sympathetic to someone who had a spontaneous mental breakdown, that didn’t appear to be the case with Carlos-Valentino. Gross noted that Carlos-Valentino called the media to say that he was about to do something that would shut down traffic on the bridge.
