What should deck drawings show on them?
Size of the deck (length & width); Square footage of deck; Location, distance & depth of 4×4 posts (Minimum depth of postholes is 36 inches deep); Size & spacing of floor joists; Type of wood used for decking. Railings for deck & steps (if over 30 inches or 4 risers high); Spindles for railings (spindle spacing less than 4″ clear between); Stairs showing riser & tread dimensions. You may use the example drawings in the Deck permit packet as a guide or fill in blanks & modify as needed depending on the complexity of your design.
