A spool of CAT5e cable is less than $150 for 1,000 feet. However, the installation time is usually billed out by the hour. In general, multiply the number of terminals you need connected by $200 and that is your approximate install cost. If you are able, run the cable yourself and have your contractor put the connectors on for you. This can easily cut the costs in half.
