What should be the role in SAARC of opposition politicians of SAARC countries?
In almost all SAARC countries, the opposition politicians play a typical role, i.e. oppose the government blindly. I believe political parties not in power have a great role to play with regard to SAARC; they can motivate people to respect the philosophy of SAARC. They can change the mindset of people; they can support their governments to achieve regional developments in effective ways. What agenda will you pursue through your tenure as the SAARC chamber president? We are planning a SAARC business conclave in Bangladesh next year where we plan to invite all the heads of state. We will organise at least three SAARC fairs in the region. We will organise several business conferences and b2b events so that businesspeople can meet each other, share ideas and suggests. We will pursue all governments to focus on infrastructural projects, especially to facilitate cross-border trade.
