What should be the age of seedlings for transplanting?
Ans.: For kharif season the age of the seedlings should be 40 45 days after sowing, for late kharif 45 50 days and for rabi season 50 55 days after sowing. If old seedlings are planted, there are chances of development of more double bulbs, thick neck bulbs or small size bulbs. Percentage of marketable bulbs will be less and farmer will not get good price for the produce.
