What should and shouldn I feed an injured baby bird?
Well…you really shouldn’t feed an injured baby bird at all. See if you can find your local wildlife rehab center and get it there as quick as possible. Keep it in a dark box with air holes, and try and keep it warm. The reason you shouldn’t feed it anything is because baby birds can be hard to identify. Sparrows eat different foods than doves (who have to be fed by a tube), who eat different foods than crows, who eat different foods than robins. The baby bird’s system can also go into shock if you try to feed it while it’s dehydrated. The best chance for the bird’s survival is to get it to a wildlife rehab center. Depending on the injury, an open wound can kill a bird by bacterial infecting in about a day. He would need to be put on antibiotics right away if that’s the case. The rehab-er should be able to properly diagnose the injury and then give it the proper care. Hope this helps.
