What should a Landlord do if evicting a tenant?

0

If a landlord is evicting a tenant for any reason then they should advise their tenant to contact the Housing Options Office and request a Homeless Persons interview. The tenant will then be given a date and time to meet a Homeless Persons Officer who will take various details and asses their housing situation at the present time. Housing Options number is 01563 574892. Please note: Section 11 Homeless etc. (Scotland) Act 2003 relates to Private Landlords, RSL’s and Banks. The Act places a duty on these groups to advise the Council of any pending evictions. This would enable the Council to provide information to the tenant at an earlier stage and prevent homelessness. This is still at consultation stage at the moment, we will ensure that you are kept up to date on any progress in relation to this.
