What should a healthy Cairn look like?
Cairns are smaller dogs that generally weigh 13 to 14 pounds when grown. They stand about ten inches at the withers and the coat should be a bit hard and weather resisting. The breed should appear sturdy, strongly built but not heavy with deep ribs, ears should be pointed and, with the tail, should give the dog an overall appearance of being alert. Color varies with each Cairn and generally the breed tends to get darker in color as it gets older.
