What shots do Dogs need every year?
The only shots required by law is Rabies. And that must be done and liscened in your area (and yes the fees can change depending on how long you the liscense is for 1 or 3 yrs, and if the dog is neutered or intact). The other common vaccinations are Bordatella and DHLPP, but these are not required by law, and usually unneccesary after the age of 2 (there is a lot a research about not needing yearly vaxes, and it was started by the drug compaines…doesn’t give the dog more protection. Once they are immune, they are immune. That doesn’t go away.). Look around for cheap vaccination clinics. There is one at my local Petco, and I can get just the 3yr Rabies shot for like $20. Then if I want other stuff like a fecal or heartworm test it is extra. BTW…it is OBVIOUS if a male dog has been neutered….b/c his nuts are gone. I would protest this fee if you have your old vet records that prove he was neutered prior to the fine being given. It is only on female dogs that it is not obvious.
