Try this: You go to Display Properties. Right-click on your desktop, select Properties. Click Settings Tab Click Advanced button. There should be a tab which has the name of your Video Adapter/Card, click on it. Click on Graphics Properties. On a window that would appear, for Display devices, select TV. (It is displayed if it’s detected; cable should be connected properly).

Insert the S-video cable into your laptop and the other end into your tv. Make sure your tv’s input source is set to PC or what ever input you plugged your S-video in (i.e. Input 1, Input 2, PC Source, etc…). *side note – this is pertaining to a laptop running Windows XP, i don’t know how the setup would run on Vista…sorry. On your laptop, right click anywhere on your desktop and select “Properties”. Then your display properties will open up and select the “Settings” tab to the far right. On the “Settings” tab you will see a drop down bar labeled “1. Plug and Play Monitor blah blah blah”. Click on the drop down bar and select 2 (for your 2nd monitor aka your tv). After selecting 2, click on “Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor” right above the IDENTIFY TROUBLESHOOT ADVANCED buttons.
