What services would be provided by a municipally owned broadband utility?
A municipal broadband utility would have the capability to provide a wide range of services to residential and commercial customers in the community. These services include, but are not limited to: § Cable television service § Local telephone service § Long distance telephone service § High speed Internet access § Local and wide area telecommunications networking All of these services would be optional. That is, no resident would have to subscribe to any of these services if he or she did not want to. Residents would still be free to obtain these services from any other provider as well.
