What services are offered to siblings of seriously and terminally ill children?
For families with a seriously and terminally ill child, siblings are often on the sidelines. Because of constant trips to the doctor’s office or the hospital, siblings often feel left out or disconnected from their family who are focused on the ill child. At GMCH we have a wonderful Child Life Program that creates meaningful, age-appropriate activities not only for the ill child, but for the siblings as well. The program gives children a sense of routine, normalcy and addresses each child’s individual needs. Some of these services include tutoring, arts and crafts, science projects, day-trips to the zoo and other places, creating memory scrapbooks, movie nights, cooking projects and much more.
