What service does Captain Sime provide to the Gunfighters?
“As a squadron gets ready to deploy, there are many tasks that must be accomplished. For a flying squadron, there is the unique requirement for every crew member to accomplish required monthly sorties. In the 389th FS, there are 59 pilots and weapons systems officers who need to be scheduled. This entails working around those 59 individual schedules to fill cockpits, tower positions and various wing meetings.” Most memorable Air Force moment. “That would have to be when I was an instructor pilot as a second lieutenant. Out of pilot training, I was selected to go to pilot instructor training to learn to teach new students how to fly. I can remember one of my first students; he graduated from the Air Force Academy in the same class as me, and here I was teaching him to fly in a multi-million dollar airplane.
