What separates a gobstopper from an Everlasting Gobstopper?
Gobstoppers are, as I mentioned, a rather generic name for a round hard candy with tons of flavor layers. While some of them are one single flavor, most have five to twenty different layers. How are they made? Well, the Oompa Loompa’s guard the official Willy Wonka secret with their lives but a basic gobstopper is made by creating a center from a tart powdered mix that’s pressed into a small ball. After that the balls are added to a churn barrel and the flavors are added one at a time while the barrel is turning. When the last layer is applied a thick coating is added to keep the gobstoppers from sticking to each other.
