What Scriptures Do the Latter-Day Saints Accept as Church Doctrine?

0

The church officially accepts 4 books as books of scripture: 1) The Holy Bible – King James Version (as far as it is translated correctly), 2) The Book of Mormon, 3) The Doctrine and Covenants (revelations mostly to the Prophet Joseph Smith), 4) The Pearl of Great Price. The Pearl of Great Price is actually a composite of several short books: one written by Moses, one by Abraham, one by Christ (an inspired translation of Matthew chapter 24) and two by Joseph Smith (one being his history and the other being the Articles of Faith). However, in the Articles of Faith is the statement: “We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.” In other words, the door is wide open for the Prophet to add scripture to the currently accepted canon of scripture.
