What scientific visualization software is available?
There are two recommendations for scientific visualization. AVS/Express from Advanced Visualization Systems is available under our Statewide Software License Program. See the Software section for further information. The Visualization Toolkit, VTK, is an open source software system for 3D computer graphics, image processing and scientific visualization. A related application is ParaView. Paraview runs on distributed and shared memory parallel as well as single processor systems. Paraview uses VTK for the data processing and rendering engine. The interface is written with a blend of TCL/TK and C++. Both VTK and Paraview were created by Kitware. Also, see our training materials in the Training section.
