What scales are available for my refractometer?

• When I look into the refractometer I cant see anything! This is a simple one. In order to be able to see anything, there must be a sample on the prism. This sample must also fall within the range that the instrument is designed to cover. For instance a customer using a 50 to 90 Brix handheld attempts to read a water sample. Water has a 0 Brix value. This customer will see nothing. The water does not bend the light sufficiently enough to allow it to intersect the scale. If the prism were designed to work from 0 to 90 Brix you would be able to see a shadowline intersecting down at 0, but the prism is designed to only show the 50 to 90 portion of this scale. Conversely, if a customer uses a sample that is above the range of the instrument, the whole scale will be illuminated. Know the refractive index range of the solutions you will be testing and select a refractometer or refractometers that will cover this range. Simply refer to the specifications for the instrument as well as for the

• When I look into the refractometer I cant see anything! • My shadowline is blurry. • My handheld refractometer is out of calibration. • There is a bubble in my prism. • I get error messages when I turn on my benchtop refractometers • My instrument is not reading accurately.
