What safety precautions should be taken on a Snowmobile Vacation?

Posted by Your Guide on May 1, 2006 9:16 PM There are many precautions that are taken to provide you and your family with the safest and most fun ride possible. First of all, in most states, you must be at least 18 years of age or older in order to operate a snowmobile. Those younger may ride, but not drive the snowmobile. There are certification courses that are offered and suggested by some governments to be taken before operating a snowmobile. These courses certify you to be an official snowmobile driver. They can be beneficial to riders of all ages and skill levels. Staying on groomed trails and roads is a good tip to help keep riders out of trouble. Also, becoming familiar with the snowmobile that you are riding is a good idea before taking off. If you have any questions, ask a staff member or your guide as soon as possible. While frozen lakes and ponds can look like fun to ride on, they can be very dangerous. Do not ride on ice that you are not positively sure is more that 8 inch
