What safety precautions do you take on Broadreach’s sailing trips?

Safety on the water is something we take very seriously at Broadreach. As a rule, Broadreachers wear a personal flotation device (PFD) when under sail or on a powerboat. Each yacht has its own powerboat in the unlikely event of an emergency that would require a quick transfer to land, in addition to VHF radios, cell and/or satellite phones, and a computer for emergency communications. ARC boats are also provisioned with extensive medical kits, life rafts, and state of the art 406 EPIRBs (emergency positioning radio beacons). On every Broadreach boat at least one of the staff members is a certified Wilderness First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician. In the Leeward Islands we also have a support boat with additional staff, as well as a high speed boat and satellite and Internet communications.
