What safety features / devices exist on a Spirit Gas fire unit?

– The ODS (oxygen depletion system) monitors the operation of the gas fire and the safe combustion of the gas by mechanical means: The thermocouple unit detects whether the pilot light is ignited and burning correctly. If the gas pressure is low or the oxygen levels are low in the room containing the fire unit, due to a blocked chimney or insufficient fresh air getting into the room the pilot light flame does not heat up the thermocouple unit sufficiently. When this happens the thermocouple sensors detect the change in temperature and cuts off the gas flow through the main gas valve in the fire, this in turn isolates the gas fire completely and it has to be ignited after being checked out by an engineer.
