What rules cover the notice of Meetings?
The basic principle is that every member of the company is entitled to notice of a meeting, but the articles of association may take away this basic right from certain classes of members, eg from holders of preference shares in certain circumstances or from members who have given no address within the United kingdom. Not less than 21 days notice in writing must be given (section 369(1)(a) of the Companies Act 1985) in the case of an annual general meeting, and not less than 14 days in the case of meetings other than the annual general meeting (section 369(1)(b) of the Act).
