What role will Maa-nulth First Nations have in federal parks in the Maa-nulth First Nation Areas?
The federal Minister retains authority for the overall management and administration of parks. However, a side agreement between Canada and the four Maa-nulth First Nations who reside near Pacific Rim National Park Reserve will define how the parties will work together to cooperatively plan and manage within the National Park Reserve. Canada will also consult with the affected Maa-nulth First Nations prior to the establishment of any new national park or national marine conservation area within the applicable Maa-nulth First Nation Areas.
