What role does weathering play in concentrating ore deposits?
Weathering is a main factor in super gene copper formation. Weathering of the out cropping sulfide copper body produces acid which leaches the copper and allows it to move downward through the oxidised zone. Deeper down there the pH is higher again the copper can re-precipitate and form an enrichment zone. This is a very simple explanation of a super gene formation. There is a lot more chemistry going on here.
