What role does VA play in training psychologists?

0

The VHA is the largest single employer of psychologists in the world, with 36% of all licensed psychologists having had part of their training in a VA setting. Over 74% of newly hired psychologists in the VHA have had VA training, and 16% of the 2008 internship match (435 interns) went to VA settings. Our facility alone has participated in the training of over 500 psychologists since its accreditation in 1979; in addition to internship and post-doctoral training, students from local universities enjoy practicum opportunities in our Outpatient Mental Health Clinic, GRECC, Behavioral Health Clinic, and Mental Health Consult service.
