What role does the minister play in the Loaves and Fishes Fundraising and Growth Programs?
As spiritual leader of the church, a minister’s support is required for growth and fundraising programs to be successful. However, the Loaves and Fishes Programs do not place the work and responsibility on a single person—like the minister. The essential activities for ministers are described below. They may choose to participate in additional activities as their time allows. The Growth Program asks ministers to welcome new members at New Member Orientation. The Fundraising Program asks ministers to give Sunday sermons and write newsletter articles in support of the ongoing Program. Sermon ideas, scripture suggestions, and newsletter samples are included in program materials. The minister is asked to attend home gatherings where questions are answered about the program and testimonials are shared. Requests for money are not made at these gatherings. The minister is never asked to make direct requests for money though they are free to do that, if so called.
