What role does the “American Recovery and Reivestment Act” play in our regions plans?
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, or stimulus bill, will be the Obama administration’s “down payment” on compelling the economic “green revolution.” The bill will provide an infusion of capital into the economy, much of which will be directed toward investments that will begin the transformation of the way our country produces and uses energy. These investments include research and development into alternative energy sources, increasing energy efficiency, deploying new technologies, retraining workers for new industries, upgrading transit systems, and investing in electricity grid improvements. This stimulus bill will be the first of the administration’s investments in our country’s future and the Greater Columbia region is using this “catalyst” to weave together its master plan for sustainable economic growth in the future.
