What role does Judaism play in the recovery process at Jewish Recovery Houses?
Residents are encouraged to define their own identity within their Jewish heritage and identity. Each person determines his or her own level of religious observance. Residents have access to religious and spiritual counseling if they wish, and they are invited to network with other Jews in recovery through various community organizations, Baltimore has a rich Jewish life and history, and we are located in the heart of a Jewish neighborhood. All major religious holidays are observed and monthly Shabbat dinners are shared with residents, families, and friends. Visiting community members and clergy hold discussions with residents prior to religious holidays and observances.
