What role does Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada play?
Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT) provides opportunities for young Canadians to travel, learn and work abroad by identifying partner countries and negotiating the agreements that make its international youth exchanges possible. We also work to provide Canadians with information about these programs. We strive to ensure that a balance is maintained between young people coming to Canada and those going abroad by facilitating exchanges. That means that an equal number of youth from Canada and those from abroad benefit from the International Youth Programs.
